Do you sometimes think back to the times you were a kid and could, let’s say, hop on a swing and just rock back and forth all day? Well, in Amsterdam there is a swing for adults. It’s a 100 meters high and you can enjoy a fantastic view of Amsterdam while your feet are dangling over the edge of the A’DAM Tower.

Apparently the Over the Edge Swing, as it is called, has been opened in august 2016 and for some reason I missed it, but it’s pretty cool, so I’d like to share it with you anyway. The swing is on the roof of the 100 meter high A’DAM tower, which makes it the highest swing in Europe. Daredevils and thrill seekers who want to have a go, are strapped to the hydraulically driven swing for safety and need to be at least 1.30m. There’s room for four people at a time.

Tower
The A’DAM Tower is a 22-story building that was built for Dutch oil company Shell and opened in 1971. Shell used the tower until 2009. It’s situated across the central station, next to the EYE Film museum.  In 2016 the building reopened after a massive renovation and was dubbed The A’DAM Tower. The former Shell tower houses a club, several restaurants, a hotel and offices from different music company’s like ID&T, among other things.

The top story including the roof is called the A’DAM Lookout and features a rotating observation deck offering a view over the historic city, the port and the polder landscape surrounding the Dutch capital. On a clear day you can even see the Dom of Utrecht. There’s also a bar, a restaurant and of course the aforementioned Over the Edge Swing to enjoy.
